Tony Benn & Naomi Klein hook up for Glasto
Fri 18th Jun 04

Glastonbury Festival Glastonbury Festival 2004

Veteran Labour left-winger Tony Benn will be hooking up with No Logo author Naomi Klein on the Glastonbury Left Field stage for a debate on “Lies, Damned Lies and George Bush” on the 2pm Friday afternoon of the Festival.

For Benn it will be his third year on the bounce at the Glastonbury Left Field and Naomi Klein, along with her filmmaker husband Avi Lewis, have been invited over this year by Left Field troubador Billy Bragg.

As well as the debate with Tony Benn, Naomi Klein and Avi Lewis will also be bringing over never-before-seen footage from their forthcoming documentary “The Take”, a journey inside Argentina’s movement of occupied businesses – an explosion of worker controlled services and business.

Naomi Klein, who recently returned from a month in Iraq, will share her experiences, just at the point when the US will be claiming that they are transferring “sovereignty” to the Iraqi people.

Geoff Martin, union organiser and Left Field Director, said:
“Bringing Naomi Klein and Tony Benn together in a field in Somerset to discuss global politics with thousands of young people could only happen at one event – Glastonbury”.
