For the first time the police are walking about the Festival site, it having been policed just by the festival's own security previously.
Acts include: Suzanne Vega, Fela Kuti, Pixies, Black Uhuru, Wonderstuff, Van Morrison, Youssou N'Dour, Waterboys, Throwing Muses, Elvis Costello, Bhundu Boys.
£100,000 is raised for CND and local charities.
Although only licenced for 60,000, there are strong suspicions that around 100,000 are present.
